About Us

Olds Oss on the Cross

This wonderful home was in our family many years ago, and is now back with us. We are undergoing a long term project of bringing the house back to her Georgian glory. The main house is moving ahead full steam and will have 2 additional stunning rooms available for a limited period once completed. Our current guest rooms are in the rear of the property. They are modern and convenient but we have kept as much of the original features as we can, but added touches like underfloor heating in the bathrooms and Smart TV's.

We do live at the property so are usually available to assist you in any way we can, but will not intrude on your stay, and unless you need us you will likely not even know we are here.

The Cross House has been many things in the past, and is most famous for the stone cross set in the pavement in front of the entrance gate. It has been shrouded in rumour and mystery, but it was used for the Padstow Maypole during the 1934 Jubilee. The tradition of the Old 'Oss dancing on the Cross during Mayday is a truly uplifting and amazing sight, that you are welcome to join in the front garden.

The Cross House is located in the very heart of Padstow, walking distance to all the world class beaches, and about 2 minute walk to the harbour and all the dining, shopping and entertainment the town has to offer. Padstow is a truly beautiful Cornish village, with a working harbour and stunning scenery in every direction.

The beaches rival any in the world for beauty and clean, clear water. All the beaches are within easy walking distance from The Cross House the closest being a beautiful 10 minute stroll. The Coastal Path walk is one of the most stunning in the country and can take you as far as you like. It is dotted with tea shops and pubs and is a lovely day out.
