General Information
Welcome to The Cross House, Padstow
This a very old home which has its quirks, many of which we have tried to retain during the ongoing renovation process. Noise can be an issue due to the age and type of construction. We do ask that guests keep noise to a minimum, the TV at a reasonable level, and to be aware when leaving, and returning to the house in the evenings or early mornings, that there may well be guests sleeping or otherwise enjoying some quiet time.

PAYMENTS & Cancellations

You may pay with a credit card or via Paypal. A 50% deposit is taken at booking, the balance will be taken automatically on check in.
If you card is declined or there are any issues at all regarding payment, you will not be able to check in.
Check in for all our rooms is any time after 4pm, check out is 10am
Dogs
The Loft Annex is the only room we currently permit dogs to stay in. We accept a maximum of 1 dog. You agree on booking with your dog, that it does not bark excessively, and that you will not leave it alone for any length of time. You also agree that you may be asked to end your trip early if your dog barks and becomes a nuisance. We have other guests staying and they will be disturbed as will the residents of the house. We love and have dogs of our own, but we cannot have barking dogs staying with us.
If you are planning to dine out, please contact the restaurant ahead of booking, to ensure they allow dogs. All the pubs and cafes do, but very few restaurants.

It may be possible to arrange dog sitting for a fee of £20 per 3 hours, please enquire at booking. This will require cash payment direct to the sitter, on the day. (min 3 hours, £8 per additional hour or partial hour).
Please bring all your dogs necessities as we do not provide dog beds, towels etc. Our towels are not to be used for dogs and dogs must please stay off the bed(s). Wet dogs are not allowed on any carpeted areas.

General Room Info
If you would like to book more than one room, for a larger group, please contact us and we can tailor a stay that fits your requirements and your budget. However parties and loud gatherings are not permitted.

All rooms have tea and coffee making supplies and a small fridge, with Nespresso machines and eco friendly, compostable pods.. We provide fresh milk which you will find in the fridge. There are bath towels for each guest, and all bed linen is also provided. Please do not take our bath towels to the beach or use them to remove make up, clean boots etc.
Please be aware that the rooms have quite compact bathrooms with either a shower enclosure or a wet room arrangement, no baths. A hairdryer, clothes steamer and portable towel warmer/dryer are provided. These are great for drying off damp coats as well.

There are no cooking facilities in any rooms and we ask that you do not bring any with you. Our insurance does not cover cooking in our rooms, and you will be liable for any damage caused by using any cooking appliance brought in by you. Similarly, we ask that you do not bring hot food back to the room.

We do not provide travel cots, baby bedding etc. If you are bringing a baby/toddler you must bring your own. There is no charge for babies/children up to 5 years old, unless they are using the Bunk bed room/Loft annex. Please be aware that the Bridge room in particular is not suitable for babies or toddlers as it does not have the space for a cot, and has a very compact sink and shower.

Internet
The internet in Padstow, and Cornwall in general, can be a bit spotty. The house is supplied with fast fibre broadband and we have not had any reports of it having any issues. However, when fully booked, with all Smart TVs streaming and people using it for gaming etc, it may slow down. This is out of our control, and if you need a consistently fast connection for work for example, you should be aware that this may not be available all the time.

Damage/accidents
You are responsible for everyone in your party, including children and dogs, behaviour and any consequences
of that behaviour. If there are any accidents please report it to us immediately. Stains can be dealt with if they are caught right away and we really don't mind! Breakages and permanent damage to fixtures, fittings, tears or permanent stains in towels or bed linen etc., may be taken from any damage deposit held.

Parking and getting around.
Parking is available only with the Loft Annex. The car park does fit 2 cars, however the owners and/or staff use it on a daily basis when cleaning or doing general maintenance at the house, so you must park to one side and allow for the free movement of another car. If you are staying in one of the other rooms, you may park briefly to unload/load your car when checking in and out. If you book the Loft, and bring a large vehicle, such as an SUV, van etc., you will not be able to use the car park, and will have to make use of one of several pay & display car parks, detailed below.

This is the best and most up to date info on parking in Padstow. Click the link below.
Parking
Padstow has 4 main car parks which are: Harbour Car Park (nearest to the harbour), Railway Car Park (at the bottom of Station Road), Lawns Car Park (on School Hill and close to Padstow Social Club) and Link Road Car Park (by the Fire Station). We recommend the Link Road car park. It is a quick 3 or 4 minute walk down through the Church and you are at Cross House, just follow the signs for the Parish Church.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, as some of the car parks look further away than they actually are. There is vehicle access to Cross house if you wish to drop off your bags first and then drive up to park. We highly recommend the JustPark app, which will allow you to pay from your phone once you have parked and entered the car park code. It works across the UK. Very handy for updating parking without having to go to your car and it may offer parking discounts.
The Ferry runs over to Rock all day during high season. You can also use the Rock Water Taxi in the evening if you go to Rock for dinner - it runs until midnight in July/August. Buses can take you anywhere from Wadebridge to Plymouth! The bus rides into the closer towns like Newquay are actually lovely journeys through the countryside and pretty villages, well worth a trip.
